Labyrinth Psychotica
Sound design contribution, 2013 onwards
A work by Jennifer Kanary Nikolova
Labyrinth Psychotica is an immersive installation that simulates aspects of a psychotic episode - the voices, the paranoia, the altered perception of space. It uses custom audio, spatial sound and a physical maze-like environment to create an experience that is educational, disturbing and empathetic at the same time.
I contributed sound design alongside Tijs Ham and Alina Sleebe.
The work was shown at FACT Liverpool and The Big Anxiety festival in Sydney, among other venues. It's one of the pieces I'm grateful for having been part of - not because of what I did specifically but because of what the whole thing was trying to do.
